Overview of business:
Income is from the showroom, where sales are made from stock on the shelf. Also, parts are ordered and are received as a daily shipment from carriers such as Aust Post, Fastway Couriers, Couriers Please, Toll, Ipec, Startrack and others.
There is a good margin in the parts and accessories sold. Stock here can be ordered as “a monthly stock order’, receives extra discount and free freight to the shop, increases margin. There is a regular customer base where customers are servicing their machines at home, so oil, oil filter, levers, air filters & spark plug sales achieve a good turnover.
Customers also regularly purchase riding gear such as googles, gloves and helmets. Income is also from the workshop, where the workshop is regularly booked out up to two weeks in advance, so there is always plenty of labour charge out, as well as the associated parts being charged
Parts here are ordered daily and freight is charged to the job. Having freight come in overnight, the workshop can turn over a lot of jobs during the week. The computer link to the wholesale warehouses, gives the business live info on warehouse stock levels, so the business can plan with
The workshop currently does log book servicing right through to engine rebuilds, suspension rebuilds, tyre fitting, electrical wiring, EFI and much more.
Workshop jobs come in from the large surrounding local area, regular servicing from regular clients, there is a large customer base, on the computer program. A recent TV advertising campaign, has increased the customer base from further afield, and a change in loss of dealerships in Lismore, 45 mins away has given the business more work.
A 2017 Toyota Hilux ute is also offered with the business. This ute is specially set up for motorcycle and quad bikes, and currently brings in plenty of work, with the pick-up/delivery service a profitable popular option.
Kyogle Motorcycles currently has two employees, one a very good mechanic that has been here for seven years, and a Saturday morning staff member, that has been helping in the afternoons in the workshop doing basic services. He also keeps the work area tidy, puts away showroom stock, prepares and puts up social media etc. and runs the shop on Saturday morning.
The business is currently open from 8 am till 4 pm, Monday to Friday and 8am till 12 noon on Saturday. Nothing extra to spend, the new owners starting, will have cash flow from day one from the showroom
area and the workshop.
